Tunza Foundation Organization is dedicated to women's empowerment for this passion we organized a successful campaign on the soil of Mtakuja "B" Secondary School during the International Women's Day on March 8, 2024. A campaign that contained a series of profoundactivities which are detailed briefly in this report.
The motto of the day was (noted in Swahili); 'WEKEZA KWA WANAWAKE ILI KUHARAKISHA MAENDELEO YA TAIFA NA USTAWI WA JAMI’.
The following are the activities which comprised the International Women’s Day campaign at the Mtakuja “B” Secondary School’s soil.
Parade
Before we started our celebrations a solidarity parade was held by students, teachers, parents, guests and Tunza foundation representatives. The parrade was to convey the Motto of the day and also to display the unity in women empowerment
Lectures
The lectures on Menstrual Hygiene, Reproductive Health and Gender Violance were conducted by Ms. Indiaeli Ndossi and Mrs. Maria from the Compassion Organization at Menonite Church in Newlands, Moshi.
Sanitary Pad Distribution
Tunza Foundation generously provided 72 packs of sanitary pads to all the female students of Mtakuja “B” secondary school; ensuring they have access to essential menstrual hygiene products.
These pads were selfishlessly donated to us by the Zara Charity Tanzania Foundation and they were distributed by Executive Officer of Mtakuja ward Ms. Marium Mwiru and Madam Sarah Ngina of the Bright Future Newlands Supoort Organization and Ms. Vai Gupta from Tunza Foundation.
Trees Planting
In a bid to promote environmental sustainability and community involvement, Tunza Foundation together with teachers, students, parents, invited guests and community leaders planted 200 fruit trees in the school compound. This initiative not only benefits the environment but also fosters a sense of responsibility and teamwork among participants.
And as it was stated by Hon. Mr. Oscar KagusaMsabaha, the chairman of CCM Mtakuja Branch; “This event today will not only benefit us but will benefit our grandchildren as well and the generations that follow”.
