WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

World Environment Day was established in 1972 by the United Nations at the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment (5–16 June 1972), that had resulted from discussions on the integration of human interactions and the environment. One year later, in 1973, the first WED was held with the theme "Only One Earth"

DThe United Nations designated 5 June as World Environment Day to highlight that the protection and health of the environment is a major issue, which affects the well-being of peoples and economic development throughout the world. The celebration of this day provides us with an opportunity to broaden the basis for an enlightened opinion and responsible conduct by individuals, enterprises and communities in preserving and enhancing the environment.

The theme of the 2024 World Environment Day is “land restoration, desertification and drought resilience.”

To commemorate the World Environment Day, June 5, 2024, Tunza Foundation organized a clean-up drive at the Rau Forest Reserve to contribute to the conservation of this vital ecosystem. The event aimed to remove litter and debris that could harm the environment and its inhabitants.

This report highlights the success of the initiative and expresses gratitude to the key stakeholders who supported the effort
